About the u3a
The u3a is a nationwide organisation for people who want to continue to learn, develop their interests, make friends and try something new. There are no age limits but the u3a is for people in their 'third age' - retired or semi-retired. For this reason it attracts a lot of members aged 50 and over.
Torpoint and Rame Peninsula u3a
Torpoint and Rame Peninsula u3a covers "the forgotten corner of Cornwall", in the south east of the county. We have an open meeting on the 4th Wednesday in the month at 10am-12 noon, where members can hear about the forthcoming activities of the various groups and chat to other members over a cup of tea and a biscuit, then listen to an entertaining speaker. The meetings are held in the Council Chambers, York Road, Torpoint. Meetings are free, but we ask for a small donation for the teas and coffees.
Non-members are welcome to attend a meeting to see if they like us, after which they they are required to pay a subscription if they want to continue attending the meetings or any of the group activities. Membership fees are shown below and you can get a membership form from the Membership Secretary at the monthly meeting, or by messaging her via the Contacts page.
