Torpoint & Rame Peninsula

Groups

The main activities of our U3A take place within our Interest Groups. The subjects covered are determined by the group members and the frequency of meetings varies from weekly to monthly. The larger groups hold their meetings in a rented village hall, pub meeting room or in the Council Chambers in Torpoint. Smaller groups meet in a member's home. You must be a member of the Torpoint and Rame Peninsula U3A to join a group. However, you are welcome to come along to one group meeting, to see if it is for you before you commit to joining the U3A.

Each Interest Group is headed by a Group Leader who has an interest in the group's chosen subject, but does not necessarily have to have any expertise in that subject. The Group Leader is responsible for facilitating the activities of the group, but it is up to the whole group to share their expertise and experiences - we all have life experience that is valuable to others!

New Groups are formed whenever a need or interest is identified by members. Some popular groups are oversubscribed and have a waiting list, but if there are enough additional people, it may be possible to start a second group. So if you have an idea for a new group, or the group that you are interested in is full, contact any member of the Committee and they will promote your idea and do their best to help you get a group - or a second group - up and running.

Some of groups have limited spaces, but we are starting up new groups all the time.  In order to allow members on waiting lists to be able to join groups, Group Leaders will have the right to remove members who have not attended for six weeks.
